Lauren Airth is a Doctoral student in Nursing at UBCO, who also works as an RN in mental health and substance use and as a Campus Health Specialist at UBCO. She began her Master of Science in Nursing in 2017 (UBCO), the same year she was named by the Canadian Nurses Association as one of 150 nurses in Canada leading innovation in healthcare. For her MSN, she conducted a photovoice study exploring the experiences of older adults with mental health concerns in rural areas; in this study, participants discussed the impacts of flooding and fires on their mental health. Lauren graduated with her MSN in 2019, and for her PhD, she will expand on these findings by researching the mental health impacts of climate change events in rural communities. She is also passionate about outdoor recreation.
