Karl is a chemical engineering PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Madjid Mohseni in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Karl researches biological ion exchange which is a low-maintenance means for removing organics in drinking water treatment. He is also involved with RESEAU, a network of water professionals, which partners with rural and indigenous communities to improve public health through drinking water. When not in the lab, Karl spends his time on the water with the UBC varsity rowing team. He is also a 2020 Vanier Scholar.
