Faculty of Science

Gunilla Öberg is a professor at IRES, UBC, Vancouver Canada. She has over 30-years’ experience of leading and participating in interdisciplinary research on science-for-policy. Her current research deals with the role of value-judgments in areas where there are large uncertainties and science is polarized, presently focusing on chemicals management, particularly endocrine disruptors. The aim is to find ways to embrace a plurality of perspectives in contexts where consensus might not be possible or even desirable.

Dr. Öberg also investigates on how to increase scientists’ uptake of research about the role of values in science, working in close collaboration with the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC).
