Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering
Faculty of Applied Science
Dan Hagn spent over a decade in water treatment technologies for the world's largest environmental services company, Veolia Environment SA. He is passionate about applying technology to conserve water resources and hopes that his studies in mine engineering will allow him to advocate for water conservation in the mining industry. He supports dewatering and thickening of mine tailings where possible as well as using reclaimed waste treatment effluent as process water. He is currently working on a project at New Afton mine that will allow the mine to draw process water from the Kamloops waste treatment plant rather than Kamloops Lake.
