This week we will ask what is sure to be a controversial question:

Should ocean (marine) and freshwater research be considered as a single research field, or are their uses/ challenges/ values distinct enough to warrant two fields of research??

Do we see water as acting like a one-way pipeline through the landscape, or as a cycle that includes the oceans and atmosphere?

This will be a great way to get to know each other while getting a sense of the diversity of backgrounds and viewpoints within the group.
