UBC Future Water Brews and News
January 20, 2021, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Welcome to our monthly Brews and News for the month of January! This week we will focus on the topic of "Engineering diversity: What is the perception of engineers among professionals with a diverse background? What extra lens should be applied to 'engineering projects' apart from the science? ".
While water is a precious resource that ties researchers and professionals from diverse backgrounds (such as water governance, policy, treatment, and art) most engineering projects tend to have a myopic view of solving global water issues. There has been a call for development projects to be more interdisciplinary to strengthen decision-making processes and their outcomes. This Brews & News session is intended to find out your views on what should be the role of different stakeholders in engineering projects and whether engineers should apply a diverse lens to their work.
Feel free to take a look at the article: How I Learned to Start Thinking Like an Engineer
This is a good opportunity to exchange some thoughts with other folks from different backgrounds, and as always, to get to know each other.
Again, come and join us for our next Brews and News discussion! Sit back, take a sip, and enjoy.
